Like what? Gloves, yes. But I leave my DH body armor at home.

If I ride in, I ride home, even if it's late, unless it starts snowing significantly during the day and the roads are a mess. It's usually dark when I ride home, , no matter what. I have a red blinker on my seatpost, and a white light on the bar so pedestrians can see me. _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.

Same, always use a front and rear light. But don't use the bike if the forecast is snow/rain. _________________ Rolling on 29", 650b, 8.3" and 23mm |

I did commute on my freeride bike last week because of mechanical issues with my XC bike. But no body armor. _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.

I commute with my Kona from time to time to mix it up. Kind of tough but fun. _________________ urbansherpatravel.com |

I expected it to be worse than it was. I'd switched out the dual ply sticky rubber tires for some single ply harder durometer tires earlier this winter, and that helped alot. Still looking for a route home with some urban freeride hits to make the big bike worth it. _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.

i figured maybe you guys wear some knee and or elbow pads. i hate to think of a crash if someone opened a car door in front of you.
i might try to commute to work when the weather gets better. im so out of shape right now, so i can use the next couple of months to get my stamina up. |

Only if I get lost
As I walked out the door this morning I did almost take the bike back inside because of all the slush at the side of the road. Ride in ended up being 95% dry though and I just avoided the wet areas. _________________ Rolling on 29", 650b, 8.3" and 23mm |

Thanks for the link Henoch. That could be useful.
I rode in today and there were plenty of icy patches all over the Q-boro. On the Uzzi again until I can get my brakes fixed on the Spider... _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.

I'll commute in the rain, snow, sleet, and humidity but that wind this morning coming over the bridge was BRUTAL! Thank goodness it will be at my back going home. _________________ urbansherpatravel.com |

You know- I didn't think the wind was all that bad this morning, at least compared to some of the mornings in January when we had as much if not more wind, but 20 degree temps and single digit wind chills... _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.

I was riding those cold days too and didn't mind the negative degree windchills. Its riding straight into the what felt like 50 mpg wind gusts....maybe it was the direction the williamsburg bridge.. _________________ urbansherpatravel.com |

were you riding against the wind? i could barely sleep a wink last night from all the howling of the wind. i heard on 1010wins that it was clocked at 90mph. |

I was on the Q-boro going into Manhattan. Maybe I just lucked out and missed the worst of it at the time I was riding in (around 10am).
Either way, wind is good for drying out trails. Lets hope it dries things up then we get some freeze this weekend to make the trails rideable in the early mornings... _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.

| Wind almost stopped me in my tracks a couple times this morning. Not bad all the time, but the gusts were brutal. |
