I'm thinking it could be nice.
...anyone done this race before?
The nice thing about Killington was that you could sleep in an actual hotel room when you weren't racing...not sure what you could do at Allamuchy?
Maybe camping out's time has come for me? |

| I thought Allamuchy is usually a mudfest, or am I thinking of a different race? |

I have done this a couple of times as a two-man team. Its during hurricane season so it is always raining. The last one we did was the nail in the coffin. It was so damp that even our "dry" clothes were wet. That said it still can be a fun race and well organized. The first year we had a lot of fun, especially during the torrential downpour at 4am.
You can either camp or rent a cabin. But if you rent a cabin you need to do it quick, because they are booked pretty quickly. If you are doing solo or a two man team you are better off just camping. |

I'd be up for renting an RV for the weekend if we decide to do Allamuchy. Last time I did it, in 2004, it poured in the early evening, was slick and nasty for the rest of the race, rained on and off until midnight or so, soaking everything, then the fog rolled in and you couldn't see more than 20 feet in front of you for the rest of the night. It was definitely one of those "fun if you like to suffer" events, but slogging through that nasty mud wasn't a lot of fun from a riding perspective.
To be honest, I'd rather drive up to the Kingdom Trails and ride for fun for a weekend than deal with that mess... _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.

A KT trip is definitely on my agenda for this summer. _________________ Rolling on 29", 650b, 8.3" and 23mm |

Sounds amazing, I've been desperately missing epic rides like that |
