Come to think of it, I've got contact information for the guys who entered the Clyde class at the Highbridge race. Maybe I'll have to recruit... Wink

Just out of interest I had a quick look through the HB race results to see the Clydesdale class times. The top clyde's time of 1:35 for 5 laps would have put him on the podium in sport 30-39 or 40-49. That's quick, check the names for any you recognise if you need a speed reference.
The second and third place riders were only 10 mins or so behind - all very impressive and well worth recruiting.

202 is what the scales at the missus' gym tell me. I'd like to be lighter and am hoping the recent roady exploits will increase my power:

202? I thought you were a XC weenie. I bet you'll be down to 185 mid-season.

I'm down with Killington. No one's interested in racing solo???

I got a stella L and most likely will pick up a second L&M for a bar mount. I noticed a few of us on the board use the same battery and charger - Light and Motion, that would be a plus.

Unfortunately I have all my 24hr racing gear in cali and not about to ship it back here. Anyone else have an extra gazeebo, chairs, etc?

I was way impressed by the Clydes at 12hrs of Temecula, they were competitive with the some of the experts and sport winners and this place was a climb fest.

I have a gazebo and some chairs y'all can borrow. I'll probably take a break from racing that weekend, but as long as I get my stuff back before the 24 Hours of Great Glen on Aug 10th. (Anyone up for that race?)

Isn't one of the nice things about Killington though that you can stay in a hotel and don't have to camp?

Yes- staying in a condo and being able to shower and nap in a real bed definitely sounds appealing.

NYCMTB has a canopy that we could obviously take, if necessary...

200lbs on the scales this morning - silky Smile
Are you defo going to solo it Jae? I've done some longer races/rides but never a 24hr race, let alone solo. How grim/fun is it?

Probably too soon after Killington for me and I think I'll be in Norcal again...

Way too early to call. Keeping it open for now...we'll see what my fitness is mid-season.

I like longer races.. I don't seem to start very fast and that doesn't help in this series.

There is something to be said about racing 12hrs or 24hrs solo.
Even though I'm very new to endurance racing and only have one 12 hr solo race under my belt, it was an unforgettable experience. The satisfaction and sense of accomplishment outweighed all the negatives. West coast conditions made it easier. I had a great support team. Victoria was there at every lap with food, replacement bottles, tools. Her sister and boyfriend were there for support as well. My stops were only about2-3 minutes. 12hrs went by so fast. Next thing I knew it was lights on and a new type of race began. On the top of temecula you can look behind for miles and see the trails of lights. pretty cool. There in nov and ,maybe july again.

I did miss all the beer drinking. There were guys taking 2-3hr beer breaks in between laps... nice.

Al, you would love it!

I've got the lowdown on some nice condo accomodations while we're there.

Sid's usually stays in the main lodge, but for another 100yards or so you can get a cheaper/bigger place...

Just saw this thread...I could be convinced to do this thing, has been a long time since I've done a 24 hour race (1995), and Jamie, I would definitely satisfy the weight requirement for the Clydes team...

are there any condo haters out there? where are my camping homies? you know, tents to nap in, camping chairs, coolers, bikes being wrenched on at 3am under the NYCMTB tent as racers fly by...i just can't do the condo thing.

so it looks like we may have a 200+ team and a few others too? how many non-clydes are there? i haven't looked yet, but registration must open soon.

Yep I'm in for camping. Sorry but I don't like the idea of a condo either.
I'll be sub-clyde by July Wink

i think they're talking about condos before and after the race.
during the race, i don't see any place else to be except at the race.

i'm for camping it. there might be a designated solo or 2 man pit area near the start/finish. that would be ideal.

non-clyde here. with my bike, case of beer and all my gear I'm still under with a few lbs to spare.

The condos at Killington are nearly as close as the camping area, so you're definitely still in it even if you set up camp in a condo instead of at the campground.

Having done a 24 hour race where it rained overnight, I can say unequivocally that I'll avoid that risk and set up in a condo if at all possible. Wink

I think that there is a lot of time to consider this race. The sign in stays open for a long time.

true true...my point is that if we don't actually do this thing and register then we will all find excuses later to say that we don't have time or that we already have plans.

Yep, sounds good. It's cheaper the earlier we sign up as well Wink
It may be a good idea to get some clarification regarding different people's desired level of commitment/ competition. Is everyone treating it as a fun/social ride? Is anyone interested in seeing how high we can place a team in the final results?

Consider also the July schedule- the Highbridge race July 6, the Windham national the following weekend, Mt. Snow National Champs the weekend after that, then Killington. Could be some tired racers come that last weekend in July!
