Snatched this up from WMBA. Looks shorter (7.3mi) and fire-roady. Must be still be saucy up there after all the inclement weather. Who's riding?

I had fun until I blew a sidewall on the second lap. Crap, left tube and CO2 at home! Soft pedaled then walked to the start and found lender tube. First attempt, the tube has hole in it. Ugh, I feel like Daniel It's easy to start thinking DNF after 30min and seeing every single racer go by, but I only had one lap to go. So found a second tube and was off to finish alone in the woods. C'est la vie. |

It was a fun course today -- tons of rocks though -- I'm sure everyone's sidewalls were begging for mercy. I had a good race today, starting off maybe 4th or 5th into the singletrack. I think I may have bent my derailleur hanger during my pre-ride, since at the base of Ned's when I went for my large cog, I shifted into the spokes. I lost a couple spots but was clawing my way back through the first lap until I caught my group's leader shortly after the 1st stream crossing on monster. For about 5 glorious seconds I was in the front after he had a slip-up, but then my bike slipped out from under me in a muddy section. I hopped back on, but couldn't pedal, looked down and saw the chain had dropped off the front rings. I yanked it back into place as the leaders disappeared, and then realized my rear wheel had come out of the dropouts. No idea why. So I slid it back it in and cinched down the QR and was on my way, again trying to catch up. Caught 1 guy a bit after Ned's. I did pretty good through Upper Sis and Sis, passing a 1-2 guys. I knew there was still one person ahead of me at least, and cruised through the lower singletrack, (I think Yang), which is a great section. Wound up finishing 2nd, about a minute behind 1st, Marc R. |

Sorry to hear it Ray. Excellent result Matt!
Two podiums in two races- you've earned an upgrade to cat 1 next year, if you want it! _________________ "Ugly or pretty, it's still my city.
