Attention all mtb racers and race fans- the flyer is out for the 2008 NYCMTB All-City XC race at Highbridge on July 6th. Download the flyer here:

http://www.nycmtb.com/highbridge/All-Ci ... -flyer.pdf

Registration is open on bikereg:

http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6214

A few high points:

• The course has been expanded to 4 miles from the 2.125 miles of last
year. The course includes more urban park terrain including stairs, paved paths with broken pavement, graffiti'd overpasses, etc., and the non-singletrack sections will make the race a bit less brutal than last year, and less repetitious.

• Race date is July 6th- the weekend before the NORBA national at Windham, and we expect some national pros to be on hand for the race. We're offering $500 to the top male and female pro racers!

• Registration is limited to 300 racers due to space and parking concerns, so please pre-register.

• All pre-registrants will receive a free race t-shirt featuring a variation of the design on the race flyer.

• Race results will be posted on nycmtb.com within 24 hours of the race. We'll be using a computerized timing system, but also a full manual backup to guarantee accurate results.

• Please use tough tires. The Highbridge trails are urban trails, and although we scour the trails before the race to remove debris and glass, there is no way for us to remove everything. Paper-thin race tires are not suitable for the course.

• All junior racers (15-18) race for only $5. We're committed to encouraging more juniors to participate in mountain bike racing.

Come on out July 6th and race, or if you're not the racing type, volunteer and help us make it happen (or just come on out to watch). See you there!

Our friend Jurgen Beneke, the 1993 UCI World Cup Downhill champ, has upped the ante for our All-City race. In October, he's putting on the "Liquid Lightning Revenge," an East Coast all-mountain race with Super-D and XC legs on one bike (a la Downieville), out at Diablo Freeride Park in Vernon. Check out the details here:

http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6807

All Expert and Pro class winners (1st place) at the Highbridge All-City race will receive free entries to that race in October, a $70 value including a two-day lift ticket for Diablo!

Im just curious... the forcast is calling for rain/t-storms over this weekend, what happens in the event of rain. Im sure you dont want to tear the trails up, would the date just get moved?

It's not going to rain. ;)

Contingency plans are in place, but unless we see a biblical deluge the race will go on. With the expanded course, we have a lot more options for re-routing the course off the most sensitive singletrack if we have to.

But as we saw at Stewart a few weeks ago, storms can dump inches of rain in the area, but still leave trails dry and dusty come race day...

We'd initially planned to close pre-registration tonight due to the holiday tomorrow, but we've pushed back the close of pre-reg until 9 pm Friday night so as to not catch people off-guard with the early close.

Pre-reg now to save $$$ and get a free race t-shirt!

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys who cleaned up and marked the course today. Glad I ran into you all. You did a really good job, and the layout is great. I had a lot of fun just running through it for practice, and im really looking forward to tomorow.

Thanks, John. The course is challenging and a bit crazy but distinctly "New York City."

We were working all day through the light rain, and the trails are still in good shape despite the damp conditions. The race is definitely a "go" tomorrow and there's plenty of space for race-day registration, so if you haven't registered yet, come on out!!!
